Space We Claim

This collection of photos is an excerpt from a book that was created as part of a thesis project while attending the Corcoran College of Art and Design's New Media Photojournalism graduate program. The project explores the role of parks within an urban community. The street style images documenting public space exhibiting variations in beauty and diversity among the landscape as well as the people who use it. Urban parks are one of the truest forms of democratic space, inviting everyone to use it in a multitude of ways. These photos wander through Washington DC parks reflecting on a place that city dwellers know and cherish.
